Greater Idlib: Turkey's Proxies Share Footage Of Recent Missile Attack On Syrian Troops

Illustrative image.

On November 28, Turkey’s main proxy in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib, the National Front for Liberation (NFL), shared a video showing one of its recent attacks on Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops.

During the attack, which took place on November 25, NFL militants targeted a gathering of SAA soldiers near the town of Hantoteen in the southern countryside of Idlib with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM).

The soldiers managed to take cover before the ATGM hit their position. No fatalities were reported as a result of the attack.

The ATGM attack represents a blatant violation of the ceasefire in Greater Idlib, which was brokered by Russia and Turkey last year.

The NFL and other factions in Greater Idlib, first and foremost al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, violate the ceasefire on a daily basis.

The SAA and its allies respond to all ceasefire violations in Greater Idlib. On November 28, the army shelled militants’ positions in the southern Idlib countryside as well as in the western countryside of Aleppo in response to a number of recent violations.

The situation in Greater Idlib is far from being stable. However, a military confrontation in the region seems unlikely, at least for the time being.
