Several gunmen (at least one dressed as a doctor) stormed a military hospital near the US Embassy in the Afghan capital of Kabul.
Clashes between security forces and gunmen inside the building were reported.
According to Reuters, the attack began with an explosion at the rear of the hospital. Then three to five gunmen with automatic weapons and hand grenades entered the building.
Media outlets and local acitvists say that at least 3 people were killed and 54 others wounded in the incident.
The fighting is ongoing.
UPDATE (13:47 CET):
- Over 30 people were killed and 50 others wounded, according to the Afghani Defense Ministry.
- Security forces have taken full control of the facility.
- Attackers (at least 5 militants) blew up themselves.
