The fighters of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Movement, damaged or destroyed 62 vehicles of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), including main battle tanks, armored personnel carriers and bulldozers, in the Gaza Strip between November 14-17, Abu Obeida, a spokesman for the faction, revealed in a voice message that was aired by the Qatar-based Al Jazeera TV.
The spokesman said that the Israeli vehicles were targeted with locally-made rocket-propelled grenades and explosive devices.
The fighters also used explosive devices, small arms and sniper rifles to target gatherings of IDF troops shielding themselves in residential buildings, Abu Obeida said, revealing that nine soldiers who were wandering outside their vehicles were killed in two separate attacks on November 14.
Moreover, Abu Obeida said the fighters attacked two high-mobility armored vehicles of the IDF near the city of Beit Lahia using anti-tank guided missiles on November 16.
On the same day, the fighters destroyed a house in the city of Beit Hanoun that was being used as a military site by Israeli troops using anti-tank and anti-personnel rocket-propelled grenades, according to the spokesman.
Two videos that show some of the attacks that recently targeted Israeli troops in northern Gaza were also released by Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades on November 17.
From its side, the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, said on November 18 that its fighter destroyed seven vehicles of the IDF at Tell al-Hawa and al-Sabra area to the southwest of Gaza City overnight.
Two Israeli tanks and a bulldozer were also targeted with rocket-propelled grenades in Beit Hanoun and to the west of Beit Lahia, according to the al-Quds Brigades, which also reported an attack on an armored personnel carrier and troops in al-Shati Camp.
The IDF didn’t report any new casualties on November 17. A total of 51 Israeli troops have been killed since the start of ground operations in Gaza. More than 260 others were reportedly wounded.
Earlier this week, Israeli troops stormed al-Shifa Hospital and solidified control over the western part of Gaza City. However, they failed to make any meaningful gains in the direction of Beit Hanoun and nearby areas in eastern and northeastern Gaza.
The next major Israeli ground push may take place in southern Gaza. The IDF has already dropped leaflets calling on civilians to leave the eastern parts of the southern city of Khan Yunis.
