Hamas Shares Footage Of Rocket Attacks On Israel From Lebanon

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Movement, released on May 3 video footage of recent rocket attacks by its branch in Lebanon against Israel.

The footage shows the launch of three salvos of rockets from undisclosed areas in southern Lebanon, the heartland of Hamas’ close ally Hezbollah. A very well camouflaged truck-mounted multiple rocket launcher was used in two of the attacks.

Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza following the October 7 surprise attack, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades have launched at least ten rocket attacks against Israel from southern Lebanon. These attacks mainly targeted settlements in northern Israel.

The group also carried out at least one cross-border raid. Several other attacks were carried out by the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

Both Palestinian factions maintain a fairly strong presence in Lebanon, mainly in refugee camps scattered across the country.

Hezbollah was the first to launch attacks against Israel from southern Lebanon after the outbreak of the war in Gaza. So far, Israel has limited its response to air and artillery strikes.

So far, the clashes have resulted in nine civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 11 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 272 fighters of Hezbollah, 12 members of Hamas, 13 from the PIJ and at least 70 civilians.
