The Houthis (Ansar Allah) continue to hold onto their positions in the district of Harad in the northwestern Yemeni province of Hajjah in the face of a large-scale attack by the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies.
On February 17, the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles at areas held by forces from the 5th Military District of the pro-Saudi Yemeni Armed Forces. In a statement, the 5th Military District claimed that the missile strikes didn’t result in any losses.
The 5th Military District, which has been leading the coalition’s attack in Harad, also claimed that its forces had shot down ten drones of the Houthis over the district.
Footage released by the force shows the wreckage of a single drone, a Rujum hexacopters armed with three 60 mm mortar rounds.
Despite receiving much support from the Saudi-led coalition, the 5th Military District’s forces have failed to make any gains in Harad so far.
Between February 15 and 17, coalition warplanes carried out 32 airstrikes on Houthi forces in Hajjah and the central province of Ma’rib. According to the coalition’s claims, the airstrikes killed scores of Houthi fighters and destroyed 25 vehicles of the group.
The battle in Harad will apparently end in favor of the Houthis. The Saudi-led coalition and its proxies will not likely make any new gains in the district or its center anytime soon.
