The Harpoon is a United States all-weather, over-the-horizon, anti-ship missile. The missile has been developed and is being manufactured by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing Defense, Space & Security). The missile also has a land attack variant.

1st. Syria aknowledges soldiers casualities so Israel doesn’t destroy only ‘sand dunes’. 2nt. What’s difference makes for the S-300 if the Israeli missile is fired from the sea ir from Lebanese airspace?
Only because it’s an escalation management issue. Once the Syrian victory is further along. Then the transition can be made from missile to to missile destruction to launch platform to launch platform destruction.
The IAF rarely destroys Syrian anti aircraft launchers. And hasn’t shot down a single Syrian fighter that I can remember. And if they have it’s rare. Many of the IAF targets are undefended low value targets. And the targets that are defended have to be hit with saturation strikes to insure that some get through.
This would all change when IAF and IDF launch platforms start being destroyed. Rather than only missiles.

S-300 is too much for such target. Naval versions of “Tor”, “Tunguska/Panzer” and new medium range “Poliment-Redout” with 2 missile types 40 km and 120 km range is enough.

“Yahont” (old word for ruby or sapphire) is the best one. Flies at 300 km with 2M speed and 2,6M (750m/s) at high altitude. Can be much more 300 km, because missile is big (3 tons), it has large inside volume, and 300 km is the limit due treaty. “Yahont-M” has 800 km range. “BraMos” is indian version of “Yahont”. And don’t forget about hyper-sonic “Dagger”.
