In the afternoon of March 3, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militants launched a surprise attack on three key positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northern Lattakia countryside.
A commander of HTS told the group’s news network, Iba’a, that the attack was successful and claimed that at least four Syrian soldiers and an Iranian officer were killed.
Contrary to these claims, a military source told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the SAA had repelled the attack. According to the source, only two Syrian soldiers were slightly injured.
“The battle lasted for an hour and resulted in the death of many terrorists while the rest fled,” the state-run agency quoted the source as saying.
HTS’ attack came only few hours after a similar attack by ISIS-affiliated Ansar al-Tawhid. The terrorist group attacked several positions of the SAA in northern Hama killing 16 personnel and capturing one other. The captured service member was later beheaded by the group’s fighters.
The SAA has not responded to any of these attacks yet. However, Syrian pro-government sources claimed that the army is now preparing to launch a large-scale military operation in the demilitarized zone around Idlib.

What a wonderful Russia-Turkey agreement for the terrorists and Turkey at Idlib.
It is time Russia, Iran, and Syria deliver a fatal blow to this growing menace. Like ISIS in their beginnings they are growing in numbers merging or conquering other terrorist militias. Deal with them now before your enemies increase their funding.
