Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is training terrorists to carry out attacks in Russian cities, the TASS news agency reported on February 11, citing a law enforcement source.
HTS is the de facto ruler of the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib, where several other al-Qaeda factions are present. These factions operate right under the eyes of the Turkish military, which maintains thousands of troops in the region.
“Information has been received that the leaders of HTS terrorist alliance had turned their supporters’ focus toward committing crimes in various cities in Russia in places where mass street actions are held,” the source said. “To that end, the leaders of the Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar, Jama’at al-Tawhid wa’al-Jihad, Ajnad al-Kavkaz terror groups and other terrorist organizations that are part of HTS are training the most trusted and experienced gunmen from among recruits of Russian origin or recruited in the countries bordering Russia.”
HTS was designated as a terrorist organization by the Russian Supreme Court in a decision made on May 20 of 2020. The group was behind multiple attacks on Russian troops in Syria.
Recently, a campaign to whitewash HTS and its leader, Abu Mohamad al-Julani, was launched by the MSM. The bold campaign presents the notorious terrorist group as some sort of a reformed, moderate Islamic movement.
The information revealed by TASS confirms that HTS is still involved in plotting terrorist attacks outside of Syria, contrary to the recent claims by MSM.

Even though I agree with you. I don’t think anybody is in position to significantly hurt anybody, without hurting their own (other) interests. Basically situation is in stalemate position. Some sort of balance of power in hodgepodge of current interests, alliances and objectives. Nobody wants (or can) to invest new forces or escalate more. Situation is fluctuating and everybody is trying to adapt and outmaneuver others without exposing themselves or investing much. US is trying hard to re-mediate the differences with Turkey. If successful that would change lot situation on the ground. Russia doesn’t want that obviously. So literally nobody trusts other side weather “allay” or “opponent”. Since today’s “allay” might become tomorrow’s opponent. Situation on the ground looks ugly but reflects current balance of the influences and power adjusted through diplomatic prism. There is too much hidden behind the curtain.

at least they don’t serve Iranian interests only any longer which is step in right direction. Russia-Turkey alignment has their extremely opposite interests in some areas and some similar or even identical interests in other. It is exactly the same today to the Russia-Iran alignment. Jaish al-Muhajireen is not a part of HTS, they’re enemies with HTS, and that’s because they’re aligned to the Muslim Brotherhood and Turkey through the ‘Be Steadfast Operations Room and Rouse the Believers Operations Room’ alliances, which HTS has banned, so HTS regularly arrest and kills their members.
Jama’at al-Tawhid wa’al-Jihad isn’t even active in Syria let alone working with HTS, they’re just an Iraqi extension of Isis, and since HTS is at war with Isis they wouldn’t cooperate with them even if they were active in Syria.
Ajnad al-Kavkaz is the only group that does have something to do with HTS, but the Chechens say they’re not allied to HTS and don’t take orders from them, and since they actively cooperate with the pro Turkish factions and also have Muslim brotherhood loyalties, HTS wouldn’t have any sort of political control or influence over them [HTS hates the Muslim Brotherhood], so that tenuous link wouldn’t be enough to incite them to commit Jihad in Russia.
