Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham Launched Major Advance In Damascus, Reportedly Broke Siege From Qabun Area

Support SouthFront

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (a coalition of militant groups led by Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) launched an advance against government forces in the Qabun Industrial Area in Damascus. Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham used car bombs to break government defenses and seized a number of points, including the electric company building. Then, government forces launched a counter-attack and retook the electric company building. Heavy clashes are ongoing.

The goal of the militant advance is to link up the Qabun area with Jobar and the Eastern Ghouta region held by militants.

De-facto, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham already broke the siege and linked the militan-held area around Bazrah with the Eastern Ghouta. However, the situation is rapidly changing and the opened supply line is very vulnerable to attacks from government troops. The situation could be easily compared with the battle for the Ramouseh Artillery Base in western Aleppo.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s suicide bomber detonate himself during the advance against government forces:

What kind of life have the people living in Damascus? How do you go to work every day, how do you exist?

Luigi

for me, it’s beyond comprehension. I can’t even imagine the suffering of that people. And, unfortunately, life in Syria is getting worse. The terrorists who are fleeing the countryside due to the SAA advance will concentrate their coward attacks against Damascus.

Othmane Msaad

Luigi you should know that the FSA aren’t terrorist 6 years and i am watching from the far side the two sides and i can said that the FSA are fighting to survive with their revolution against the dictator Bashar , all the syrian peoples souffer from the fact of the acts of bashar and his owners ( Iran – Russia … ) this is my point of vue ( 6 years of experience )

testera

How long is your experience with moderate sucide bombers?

Thegr8rambino

what “acts” have you suffered from his?

Gary Sellars

Don’t feed the cunt.

Daniel Castro

It looks like you belong to one of the neighboring countries that keep fueling the flame of war in the country waiting to conquer a piece of it, or change the leadership to one that suits your imperial interests.

Gary Sellars

Cretin of a terrorist sympathiser. Watch while the SAA exterminates these vermin…

Spunkyhunk

“The terrorists who are fleeing the countryside due to the SAA advance will concentrate their coward attacks against Damascus.”

That’s why the terrorists need to be wiped out, not allowed to flee or retreat, whenever possible.

Attrition47

The Syrian army can’t be everywhere.

Spunkyhunk

It’s not about “being everywhere”.

Attrition47

You are being unrealistic about time, not place.

Daniel Castro

I understand your anger, but all out attack will only give the zionists what they want, more war.

Spunkyhunk

Ludicrous reasoning… Winning and wiping out the jihadi proxy foot soldiers of the Anglo-Zionist/Saudi axis would “only give the zionists what they want, more war” (!)

Daniel Castro

There was no reasononing, I think it is a self-evident truth that going on killing on a rampage taking war to the last consequences will bring more war, the rebels weren’t spared for no reason, it was negotiated to let them go to reduce the number of civilian casualties, this would make civilian population hate russians and the SAA thus increasing the enlistment in DAESH and other “moderate” terrorists.

testera

Sadly, they don’t have much of a choice. In time like those, being still alive is enough to keep you going.

hhabana

Thought the same thing. I feel for these folks.

Julius Meinel

I can tell the Nethanyanu and Erdogan came empty handed from the recent Moscow trip, not having obtained the concessions they were seeking. Hence, the increase in both Israeli andjihadist allies ( who would thing of this devil’s alliance really?!) activities in south-west Syria. Now it all comes down to whether the SAA air-force and SAM batteries will stay their ground and fight back and whether the Russians show the Israelis the corner. It is going to be an interesting 2-3 weeks to watch.

Luigi

I think that the Shiites and the Russians knew that after the defeat of FSA in Alepo and ISIS in both Iraq and Syria it was just a matter of time before the Sunnis and Israel were forced to suport them directly. No side can afford defeat. The proxy war is about to end and a direct conflict is about to begin.

Thegr8rambino

and syria will win

Aquartertoseven

For as long as Hezbollah and their suppliers Syria/Iran antagonise Israel (Hezbollah and Syria have launched 4 wars against Israel and continue to bolster Hezbollah’s supply of missiles, one of the largest in the world, to use on civilians), Israel can’t afford to relent in this war.

Attrition47

The zionist occupation cannot exist without war, it’s what American Caesar uses them for. The pretexts vary but the facts don’t.

Solomon Krupacek

hezbollah = freedom fighters against foreign army on their own ground. like yugoslavian partisans against nazi hordes.

Gary Sellars

BS, filthy Zio-ape liar…. Israel has been the agressor in every single war they have fought. Even Yom Kippur in 1973, as this was a dircet consequence of Zionist attack on Egypt in 1967.

How the fck can idiots like you puke your BS and lies in support of such a filthy apartheid racist warmongering belligerant bunch of monkeys-in-human-form?

Aquartertoseven

Calm it dhimmi/useful idiot.

Right, every neighbour of Israel massed their forces on that border but they were just camping! They weren’t going to attack, promise!

Thegr8rambino

Maybe because israel is antagonizing the region with their support of daesh and killing palestinians??? Ever think about that?

Aquartertoseven

Again, they’ve started 4 wars with Israel and work together to build up what is already one of the largest supplies of rockets in the world, which they’ve shown to use consistently on civilians.

Sounds like anything Israel would do to weaken these belligerents is for the sake of weakening them and distracting them from their goal of annihilating Israel.

Thegr8rambino

Because none of those countries asked for or wanted israel to be created, and they get the US to fight their wars for them

Aquartertoseven

What business is it of theirs? Israel is a foreign country, what does its creation have to do with Syria, Iran etc.? Why do these foreigners need to be asked for their opinions on the formation of a completely separate country? You’re making no sense.

Thegr8rambino

Because that land belonged to palestinians

Aquartertoseven

No, Jordan belonged to the Palestinians, Israel was given to the Jews, as the 1920 Mandate shows. Israel was a part of the Ottoman Empire before the British took it, and they carved out Jordan for Palestinians, it only makes sense to send them all there, surrounded by other Arabs in a country with ample room.

Thegr8rambino

Nowhere in the Torah does it say Jews should have a land of their own. It was only after ww2 they were given Israel. Just because they were victims of genocide does not make it OK for them to do the same thing to Palestinians for a “greater Israel”.

Aquartertoseven

Of course it does. Most Palestinians were immigrants from Syria or Jordan, they should move back there. And considering that Muslims all over the western world are carving out their little mini states, damn right the Jews give them a taste of their own medicine. At least Israel is democratic.

Thegr8rambino

it sure is and i am ALL IN FOR SAA/RUSSIA

Abelrad

Anti Semitic moron

Gary Sellars

Zio-ape…. condemnation of Israeli aggression and warmongering is not the same as anti-jewish racism. If they act like Nazis, then the Zionists will be likened to Nazis.

Abelrad

God gave all the middle east to israel

Dejan

Big counter attack is going on now!! Good luck SAA!!!

Gary Sellars

Go SAA!!! Kill these filthy pig-fucking goats…. all of them…. give no quarter….

John Whitehot

Al-sham is one of the moderates, the usage of suicide bombers proves that beyond doubt.

Daniel Rich

@ John Whitehot,

Nice one!

DJ Double D

Never ending war. Rapprochement with Turkey is a bad choice. They made it clear that their aim is to topple Assad. What was the point of the Deal with Erdogan?

Spunkyhunk

Because according to the Great Genius Chessmaster Putin, Erdogan was going to give up all his wickedness and aggressive Islamist Neo-Ottomanist ideology overnight and become a Loyal Member Of Putin’s Great Eurasian Axis Together With Iran (!)

Gary Sellars

Rubbish – Putin and Lavrov know full well the nature of Doggie and his orcs, but they also know how to manage them. Doggie has gone as far as he is able and will now sit on his stool and fidget around, but won’t make a big scene as he knows teh score.

Spunkyhunk

Rubbish, is taking your own optimistic speculations and projections as already-established fact.

Gary Sellars

Bah, the Turks are neutralised with their advance blocked at Al-Bab by the SAA, while Russians & Yankistanis in Manbij will prevent Johnny Turk from causing trouble against the Kurds.

Putin has used the Turdkish to push ISIS back to where the SAA can slam the door on erDOGans goblin horde. After teh war is over, the Turds will have no choice but to relent and withdraw, and take their filthy Turkomen and FSA whores with them.

gold37

No need to panic, this is a last ditch effort like the attempt to break the Aleppo siege, it’s do or die and thy are aware of that. Trap a rat long enough and it would do everything to try and escape. It won’t be fruitful, and I doubt they have manpower shortage within Damascus, even if they did, Hezbollah can fly in a few thousand in a day and it’s all over.

Trustin Judeau

Why anybody should panic. And the siege isnt broken. The opp sources were spreading fake news

888mladen .

You are pretty cool guy, aren’t you? Nothing to worry your side.

Trustin Judeau

No.I wasnt worried when Aleppo siege was broken. The goverment should launch offensive to liberate Ghouta. The rebels arent military threat to Damascus but they are shelling which is bad for the citizens

Gary Sellars

Agreed, and the sensible observers knew the SAA would seal the breach at Ramouseh, and that the Jihadists had expended much of their reserves for minimal (and short-lived) gain.

The Wahabbi goat-fuckers simply haven’t learned a thing.

Tchoutoye

Can anyone explain why the Eastern Ghouta pocket is proving so difficult to liberate? Taken as a whole, it isn’t as densely populated as the Eastern sector of the city of Aleppo. And despite being surrounded by the SAA, the Al-Nusra rebels don’t seem to be running out of supplies or morale. I read somewhere that they had built a network of tunnels.

Drinas

Because the Kremlin considers them “moderate” rebels and they are included in the very effective (sarc) ceasefire.

Julius Meinel

For the same reason Dar El Ezzor is difficult to take by ISIS. Well developed defenses, committed soldiers; Eastern Ghouta is populated largely by civilian population is adherent to radical Islam, hence, the unremitting support among the civilian population for the jihadist. Is is not a small pocket and is largely self sufficient. Had it been a small undertaking, the SAA would have attacked it long ago. It will fall eventually. but it will take time.

PZIVJ1943

Yes, and I think the E Ghouta pocket is half the size it was a year ago. Of course we would like to see faster progress in taking it. This would free up many SAA for other fronts.

Solomon Krupacek

But DEZ gets ammunition and food daily from the government. Theoretically in east ghouta shold not be any ammunition and food, already.

Gary Sellars

BS… the terrorists don’t have support of the locals, but like Aleppo, they thtreaten resistance with deadly force and punishment of family members. Intimidation keeps the locals in line, and they use them as human shields to hobble the SAA options.

Bill Wilson

Shooting wars expend quite a bit of ammunition. Once your enemy’s rate of fire tapers off then you know he’s getting low on ammo. That happened to the fellahs inside Eastern Ghouta so the SAA decided to lay off them for awhile and get busy elsewhere since those rebels were no longer a threat. I know nothing about the demographics and industries inside Eastern Ghouta so don’t know if the SAA allowed their residents out to their regular jobs along with commercial traffic bring in goods/foodstuffs/materials for industrial plants and their finished products going out. The residents had to buy water and electricity from Assad so it made sense to keep them employed.

Drinas

Keep focusing on ISIS and pointless symbolic targets like Palmyra, while the enemy is literally inside your cities and this is what you get. Another by-product of the “very successful” peace process courtesy of Lavrov and co.

DJ Double D

The Peace Process is actually an effective strategy if played well. But I think it has to be accompanied with offensive attack until all sides sign an enforceable agreement then offensive attacks should stop. You see War is not Bread and Butter. I know that watching from the side, it looks easy but it’s not for sure. It’s a battle of life and death.

Bill Wilson

You obviously don’t know squat about wartime economies, lines of communication and strategic locations. Palmyra is the hub of the road network inside the central Syrian Desert. Control of that location hinders Daesh’s lines of communication to their western units (transfer of men & supplies) and goods to sell to the rebels. There’s plenty of natural gas fields around Palmyra that supply Syrian electrical generation stations. Daesh took over the area so they could sell the gas to Assad’s government, who had no choice in the matter so they could keep the power on to operate a modern economy. The SAA ran Daesh off later on only to lose it again. Now the SAA is taking the area back but this time will go deeper into Daeshland to eliminate all of their regional units to prevent them from assaulting Palmyra and the gas fields again. Daesh has to bring in revenues to pay fighters’ salaries, buy ammo and supplies. They made money selling fuels and grains to the western rebel groups so by cutting them off from their main customer base, their caliph will become bankrupt if it ain’t already. There has been trade going on between all the factions during the course of fighting so people can work, eat, be clothed and the powers in charge can make some revenue to pay expenses. The various groups made easy money by charging road tolls.

Percival

This guy is on the ground in Syria and reports very accurately what is going on.

MeMadMax

Morons, literal waste of time…

What is the purpose of this? None, except waste terrorist resources… which is a good thing I guess….

Bill Wilson

The extremists are trapped where they’re at so must be trying to take over key infrastructure to put them in a better bargaining position.

Gary Sellars

but in reality they are using up their remaining strength for near-zero gains, just like the orcs in Aleppo.

Xanatos

Militants are establishing a link to transfer troops. It is not a successful SAA counter offensive that will close the link, but a withdrawal following the end of the transfer. East Gouta is getting reinforcements.

The same is happening with the khanaseer highway south of aleppo.

Trustin Judeau

The offensive was repelled.I dont think they broke the siege yesterday.Few points captured but not enough for breaking.

jim crowland

We in the Democratic West need to organize a major christian offensive and re establish a post world war I system. Instead of France and England it could be Russia and the EEUU. Freedom of religion and democracy at a local level with the superpowers watching that these guys don’t go crazy as it is their tendency. (Although Russia is not a democracy but that could change any time)
