On August 22, the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-linked news agency, Iba’a, said that an official of HTS denied claims about the allegedl negotiations between HTS and Russia in southern Syria.
The HTS official also denied handing over any leaders of HTS to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) as a part of the supposed negotiations.
HTS official emphasized that HTS is against any peaceful agreement with the SAA or Russia.
“HTS won’t fall into the Russia occupation trap,” Iba’a quoted the official.
Previously, the fake “Official Khmeimim Airbase” Facebook page claimed that representatives from HTS had a meeting with Russian official in Daraa, and handed over a wanted leader of HTS.

Sadly, although this Facebook page was exposed since 2016 as an unofficial page, and a source of fake news, many news agencies still count on its words to this day.
