Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham Releases Terrorist Responsible For Attacks In Russia

Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which rules Syria’s Greater Idlib, has released notorious terrorist Abu Salah al-Uzbeki, Enab Baladi reported on March 18

Taqi al-Din al-Omar, HTS public affairs official, confirmed to the pro-opposition news outlet that al-Uzbeki was released without providing any details. Reports of the terrorist release first emerged on March 16.

Al-Uzbeki was leading HTS’ Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad. Last year, he was sacked from his post. The infamous terrorist later joined Ansar al-Din.

The terrorist, whose real name is Sirajuddin Mukhtarov, is reported responsible for the Saint Petersburg Metro bombing in 2017. At least 15 people were killed in the terrorist attack.

Mukhtarov was arrested by HTS security forces for no clear reason around nine months ago. His new group, Ansar al-Din, called the arrest “humiliating”.

The arrest of Mukhtarov was likely motivated by a personal disagreement between him and HTS leader Abu Mohamad al-Julani. The terrorist group may have released him to cooperate with him against Russia once again.

Recently, Russian officials revealed that HTS was training terrorists to carry out terrorist attacks in various Russian cities.

Nobody can bet against the solidarity between terrorists, which can only be broken in case of problems in the division of the loot or the distribution of command posts and various privileges, after all they are only bandits.

This is basically a signal to Russia that they can now level anything they choose in northern Syria with waves of Tu-160s. “We got a tip that al-Uzbeki was there.”

It seems that the cold blooded murder of 15 people isn’t a crime in the eyes of fake religious groups. Whereas just about everything else is.

Mr Mukhtarov shouldn’t make himself too at home in Syria.
