On February 25, ISIS fighters launched a new attack on positions of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the western part of the Yarmouk refugee camp south of the Syrian capital, Damascus, according to Syrian opposition sources.
The HTS-linked news agency Iba’a reported that HTS fighters had repelled ISIS attack on their positions in the Yarmouk camp and revealed that the terrorist organization had used two armored vehicles and a bulldozer in its attack.
A source in HTS told Iba’a that HTS fighters had killed and injured several members of ISIS and had destroyed one of the armored vehicles with a rocket-propelled grenade.
ISIS launched an attack on HTS positions in the northern part of the Yarmouk camp on February 14 and managed to capture the neighborhoods of al-Mashrua’ and al-Malion. Currently, more than 85% of the Yarmouk camp is under the control of the terrorist group.
ISIS fighters will likely launch more attacks on HTS positions in the western part of the Yarmouk camp. The terrorist organization is likely planning to expand into the districts of Yalda, Babbila, and Beit Sahm near the strategic Damascus Airport highway.
