Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) [the former branch of al-Qaeda in Syria] shelled the district of al-Zahra in the northwestern part of the city of Aleppo with dozens of mortars on February 27. The radical group’s news network Iba’a released a video of the attack.
The attack is yet another violation of the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement, which failed to achieve any of its goals. The number of violations increased dramatically during the last three weeks.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) responded to HTS’ attack on Aleppo by shelling several positions of the radical group in the towns of Ataman and Atshan in the northern Hama countryside. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the shelling didn’t result in any civilian casualties.
The upcoming hours will likely witness more retaliation attacks by the SAA, which resumed its aerial operations over the opposition-held areas in northwestern Syria last week.
As the situation within the demilitarized zone around Idlib continues to deteriorate, the possibility of a limited military operation against HTS and its close allies increases.

Russia thought Turkey would play by the rules and signed agreements……Russia has a lot to learn of today’s World and working with the NATO boys.

This ‘Idlib pocket’ needs to be chipped back with every provocation, at least in the short run until its just Idlib. This ‘frozen state’, is to give the jihadi’s a new “Caliphate”, under the Al Queda flag instead of the ISIS flag.
