Head Of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces Says U.S. Attack Won't Go Unanswered

Falih al-Fayyadh, the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), on February 4 said that recent United States strikes on PMF headquarters in the western Iraqi province of al-Anbar “will not go unanswered.”

Al-Fayyadh added in a speech he delivered during a public funeral for PMF fighters who were killed in the U.S. strikes on the al-Qa’im and Akashat districts that “the U.S. aggression was a direct targeting of the PMF forces,” stressing that “this incident will not go unanswered.”

“We will not accept that the blood of our sons be cheap political material,” he said, calling for “cleansing Iraqi land of foreign presence.”

The U.S. military launched 85 strikes against Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria late on February 2. The attack, which was carried out by strategic bombers and other warplanes, was the first wave of retaliation ordered by President Joe Biden for a drone strike that killed three American troops in Jordan last weekend.

At least 16 people were killed and 25 others were wounded in Iraq, including civilians, the Iraqi government said. More than 18 others were killed in the eastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Civilian casualties were also reported there.

Al-Fayyadh’s warning could have serious implications. Besides his position in the PMF, the prominent Shia leader, who is sanctioned by the U.S., heads the Fatah Alliance, a leading part of the Iran-backed Coordination Framework. The block is now the largest in the Iraqi parliament.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), who was blamed by the U.S. for the deadly drone strike on the base in Jordan, carried out two attacks against a base hosting American troops in northern Iraq and another in northeastern Syria just a few hours after the strikes.

The Iranian-backed group is made up of several armed factions, some of which are known to be a part of the PMF which is officially recognized by the Iraqi government.

Since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip last October, the IRI has carried out more than a hundred attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria in response to Washington’s unwavering support for Israel.

us politicians can’t do whatever they want and they know it. that’s why they don’t declare war on iran. first of all, the killing of three us fag soldiers was an inside job, as always. second, why didn’t they blame it on iran? because usa can only bomb some small groups, never real armies.

JamL

a real army for iraq, called army of messiah and imam mahdi is under way, god willing. all those anti-christ narrations in islam and christianity are coming true. usa is frightened, all jews are frightened. that’s why they wage war on iraq without any reason. because they know that imam mahdi will rule from iraq.

‘a drone strike that killed three american troops in jordan’

enough is enough, sf, this isn’t just an editorial slip but a further example of spreading the already debunked murikan lie. the strike was not in jrd (where yoosa forces legally operate) it was in syr (where their presence is illegal). even jrdn have called out this lie!!

okay, no matter how you see it or where you stand (be pro-resistance or pro-zionist/yaquis). the us didn’t attack irgc but iraqi pmus and syria groups. the iraqi pmus are part of iraq army… there is a joke about iraqi army which they said, “iraqi army is the 4th strongest army… in iraq”.

someone mentioned a good point, the us attacked bases near the road leading from iraq to lebanon…
