Heavily Modified Gazelle Helicopters Spotted In Mozambique

Support SouthFront

Photos of Aerospatiale SA341B Gazelle helicopters used in Mozambique by employees of the South African private military company Dyck Advisory Group (DAG) have appeared online.

The combat helicopters appear to have been slightly improved – they are equipped with PKM, W85 machine guns, an AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher, and for the convenience of their use, the doors have been dismantled.

Also, DAG employees use homemade bombs made from gas cylinders. Similar ersatz FABs use government forces in Syria, where they are known as “barrel bombs.”

Apparently, there is also a Russian Mi-8 combat helicopter. Click to see full-size image

Additionally, local media reported on the plane crash of the South African PMC Dyck Advisory Group in the Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado.

On June 15, a light single-engine Bat Hawk aircraft was performing a reconnaissance mission when communication with it was interrupted. The search and rescue team moved to the signals of the emergency beacon and found the crashed plane in the vicinity of the village of Muidumba. The pilot was seriously injured, but survived and was evacuated to South Africa.

At the same time, sources deny the involvement of ISIS militants operating in the province in the incident, claiming that the plane fell due to a technical malfunction.

It is known that the PMCs there use Bat Hawks. Also, Amnesty International recently reported that, in addition to Al-Shabaab and ISIS, the local Mozambique armed forces, as well as the PMCs carry out frequent war crimes.

The situation is such that the civilians there are between a rock and a hard place.

South African mercs have such a bad karma that its not impossible that once they are on stage, many will start to support ISIS instead. Karma is a bitch…
