If all of historical Palestine is “occupied” in your view, then virtually every territory on earth is also “occupied” if you go far enough back in time. Parts of historical Palestine were were in Egypt and Jordan.

Well, despite your accusations to the contrary, I am not Jewish or Israeli and I don’t have any sort of influence on the international stage, so I am not sure what I specifically can do. I would say Israel needs to be put under intense pressure to vacate the West Bank as a starting point, and the descendants of refugees resettled in parts of the West Bank as a start. I should note by the way that most people (and their descendants) who were displaced 70 years ago are not living in “refugee” camps right now. A part of them yes, but most have either integrated into surrounding countries or settled in the West Bank/Gaza. Pre-1967 borders is the only realistic and humane outcome that does not ultimately lead to a large and devastating regional war. In that regard, I completely agree that Israel needs to make significant concessions and act in good faith for when approaching any prospective peacetalks. The settlements have got to go, and the Palestinians should be guaranteed East Jerusalem.

Again, everyone’s ancestor was a “thief” at some point if you go far enough back in history. It’s been seventy fucking years. Almost nobody who was an adult in 1948 is alive anymore, among both the Israelis and the Palestinians. Israel should withdraw completely from the West Bank and the Jerusalem issue should be settled. However, places like Haifa and Tel Aviv have rapidly industrialized and rapidly developed over the course of the last 70 years. It is just not prudent or realistic to expect millions of people in these places to simply uproot themselves and leave, dismantle their entire country, and to vacate their properties and allow hundreds of thousands to pour across the internationally recognized borders to “reclaim” land supposedly some of their ancestors or extremely old relatives may have owned.

Now of course if I put myself in a Palestinian’s shoes, especially one who’s relatives were displaced in 1948, then of course there’s a high likelyhood that I would see such a scenario as pure justice. So in a way I can sympathize with the sentiment of many PAlestinians who think that Israel should just disappear and its people vacate and relocate. But from a realpolitik standpoint, this is just not prudent or realistic. Both sides will need to make compromises, and in a way, I am more sympathetic to most (but not all) Palestinian grievances and demands rather than Israel’s.

I do not think hundreds of thousands if not millions people should die because of the complete intransigence of Israelis and Palestinians on certain demands. And that’s not even mentioning the possible destruction of countless Islamic, Christian, and Jewish holy sites that might ensue should a full blown war commence, which is not in anyone’s interests. Maybe I am naive, but I think a 2 state or 3 state solution is entirely possible. I don’t see how there can realistically be a “solution” any other way short of 1) either perpetual low level conflict that doesnt subside for centuries to come or 2) the outburst of a large scale conflict which results in the annihilation of millions of people, with extremely heavy loss of life among Arabs.

Israel should’ve never been created in the first place. But to undo this historical mistake would require an incalculable loss of life and destruction that would make virtually all the conflict and suffering that has been endured over the last 70 years look like a small walk in the park by comparison. I am not interested in seeing the entire Levant, including all of Israel and Palestine, turn into Dresden or Tokyo 1945. Modern armies are entirely capable of recreating that, even without any use of nuclear weapons. People seem to forget that.

But again, I don’t think any of this stuff will happen. Even Arabs who refuse to formally recognize Israel’s existence probably acknowledge it’s reality.

There cannot be 6 million Palestinian refugees because there were no more than 1.1 million Arabs in the entire historical Palestine so your 6 million figure is completely off. Palestinian diaspora =/= Palestinian refugees. By the way there was no nation of “Palestine” prior to the British Mandate. It also never existed before the Ottomans conquered the area. Before the Ottomans conquered what we now call Palestine, the area was conquered by the Mongols. The area was also conquered by the Mamluk Sultanate prior to that. The demographics of the area have rapidly been shifting throughout the past 3000 years as new conquerors and invaders would set a foothold in the area. There is no large homogenous ethno-national group of Palestinian identity that has remained clearly identifiable for the past 3000 years. Of course, this doesn’t make it right, but every one is a thief at some point if you go far enough back in history.

There was no “millions of deaths” either. There were some conflict and there was some death from the conflicts, particularly in 1948 and 1967, when the casualties were at their peak. But the casualties never reached the “million” mark. Tens of thousands of casualties over the course of decades even by the most generous and inflated estimates throughout the entirely of the 70 year long Israeli-Palestinian conflict. For a conflict capturing the attention of so many in the world (a lot of it has to do with religious sensitivities more than anything else), it completely pales in severity to some of the other wars that we have seen since 1948. The Iran Iraq war alone killed far greater amounts of civilians and troops during the course of 8 years than 70 years of this low-level conflict. Compare it to something like the Rwandan genocide, and all 70 years of Israeli-Palestinian conflict look like a small skirmish. It is interesting to know how you blatantly lie about even basic facts and figures concerning casualties. Hence why you inappropriately use words like “genocide” and “millions”.

I suggest you actually go do some reading on the history of the Israeli Palestinian conflict to get yourself up to date with basic information and then have a more informed opinion.
