Hezbollah carried out on June 19 another wave of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), hitting targets near the Lebanese border with drones, rockets and other weapons.
In three separate statement, the group said its fighters attacked gatherings of Israeli troops near the settlement of Metula with a “squadron” of suicide drones, fired “dozens of Katyusha” rockets at the headquarters of the headquarters of the IDF’s 769th Eastern Brigade in the Kiryat Shmona barracks and destroyed Israeli surveillance equipment at a border site near Metula with “suitable weapons.
The attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, Hezbollah noted in its statements.
The IDF acknowledged that Hezbollah fired some 15 rockets at Kiryat Shmona and said that a single drone struck Metula. However, it reported material losses only.
In response to recent attacks by Hezbollah, the IDF announced two waves of strikes against targets of the group in southern Lebanon.
Overnight, a drone strike struck a Hezbollah weapons depot in the town of Yaroun where a cell of fighters was present, the IDF said, adding that another strike was carried out against infrastructure belonging to the group in the town of Baraachit at the same time.
Later in the morning, two strikes hit buildings belonging to Hezbollah in the town of Borgholiyeh, near the city of Tyre, as well as in the town of Khiam, according to the IDF.
Hezbollah mourned four of its fighters. Three of whom, including a local official of the group, were reportedly killed in Yaroun.
Hezbollah and its allies began launching near-daily attacks against the IDF in support of the Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions in Gaza after the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Strip last October.
In recent weeks, the group escalated attacks against the IDF. Senior Israeli officials made serious threats to Lebanon in response.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in ten civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 15 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 500 people have been killed, including 329 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 90 civilians.
