Hezbollah launched on June 2 another wave of drone and rocket attacks, hitting sites of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) along the Lebanese border and in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
In the morning, Hezbollah said it attacked the radar of an Iron Dome air defense system deployed at the Yarden barracks in Golan with a “squadron” of suicide drones. The radar was destroyed and a number of Israeli troops were killed or wounded, according to the group.
Hebrew media said that two drones impacted Golan, sparking a fire that was quickly extinguished. No casualties were reported however.
The group also announced in the morning that its fighters shelled the site of al-Marj along the Lebanese border with artillery.
In the afternoon, Hezbollah said its fighters launched two salvos made up of dozens of “Katyusha” rockets at the headquarters of the IDF’s 210th Division in the Nafh barracks in Golan. Hebrew media reported several fires in the region after the attacks.
The group also said its fighters targeted the site of Hadb Yaron and a nearby gathering with “suitable weapons” and destroyed a vehicle of the IDF with rockets close to the al-Abad site. Both sites are located along the border with Lebanon.
The attacks were all carried out “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and to support their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted while claiming responsibility in separate statements.
Besides the attacks claimed by Hezbollah, Hebrew media reported a guided missile strike on the settlement of Metula on the border with Lebanon and said that a “suspicious aerial target” was intercepted over Nahariya and Acre in northern Israel.
In response to the attacks, the IDF announced yet another wave of strikes against alleged targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Israeli fighter jets struck an ammunition depot of the group in the town of Mays al-Jabal and a building in the town of Houla that was used to launch rockets, the IDF said in a statement. Later, Lebanese media reported that two shepherds were killed in Houla.
Hezbollah and its allies have been launching attacks from Lebanon against the IDF since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in ten civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 14 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 308 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 80 civilians.
