Hezbollah announced on July 14 that it had carried out an attack with a “squadron” of suicide drones against the headquarters of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) 91st Divsion near the settlement of Ayelet.
The attack was carried out in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, in particular two strikes that targeted the towns of Arnoun and Al-Khardali, the group said in a statement. The strikes in question claimed the lives of a Hezbollah fighter and official from the allies Amal Movement.
The IDF said that its air defenses shot down a drone that entered Israeli airspace from Lebanon over the Galilee region. However, it didn’t report any losses.
Hezbollah announced two other attacks during the day. The group said its fighters shelled gatherings of Israeli troops near the border sites of Hadab Yarin and Ruwaisat al-Alam in response to the Israeli war on Gaza.
Israel has not responded to these attacks yet. The IDF will likely launch another wave of strikes against Hezbollah in the upcoming few hours.
Hezbollah and its allies began launching near-daily attacks against the IDF in support of the Hamas Movement and other armed factions in Gaza after the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Strip last October.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in 12 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 17 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 500 people have been killed, including 350 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 90 civilians.
