Hezbollah carried out a series of rocket attacks on January 27, targeting troops and sites of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) near the border with Lebanon.
In two separate statements, the group said its fighters fired Burkan heavy improvised rockets at a gathering of Israeli troops in the Jal al-Alam military site and targeted a headquarters inside the Zabdin Barracks with Falaq-1 heavy rockets.
Hezbollah also announced in three other statements that it had carried out attacks with rockets and other weapons on the Khirbet Maar base as well as gatherings near the barracks of Doviev and Shumira.
In another statement, the group said its fighters destroyed surveillance equipment at the IDF’s border naval site using anti-tank guided missiles.
The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted its statements.
Hezbollah’s Military Media also released video footage showing a recent attack with Falaq-1 rockets at the Maale Golan Barracks.
The IDF launched a series of strikes on targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon in response to recent attacks. The strike hit infrastructure of the group in the towns of Blida, Marwahin, and Ayta ash-Shab. The IDF released video footage of the strikes.
Separately, the IDF said that it had intercepted a “suspicious aerial target,” believed to be a drone, that was heading toward Israeli airspace from Lebanon.
The incident set off suspected drone infiltration alarms in several communities in the Upper Galilee. An Israeli military spokesperson said later the target was downed over Lebanese airspace, before it crossed into Israel.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.
So far, the clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border have resulted in six civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 200 have been killed. The toll includes 160 Hezbollah fighters, 14 of whom were killed in Syria, 28 Palestinians, a Lebanese soldier, and at least 24 civilians.
