Hezbollah launched another wave of attacks from its heartland, southern Lebanon, against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on March 6.
In a statement, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted the al-Matla site using a suicide drone. However, the IDF said later in a statement that the drone was shot down by its troops and didn’t report any casualties or material losses.
The group said in three other statements that its fighters struck a house in the Avivim settlement using a “suitable weapon,” and shelled the sites of Zabdin and Ruwaisat al-Alam with rockets.
The attacks were carried out in support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, Hezbollah said in its statements.
In response to the attacks, the IDF said that its fighter jets struck a building used by Hezbollah in the town of Yaroun, and another building in the town of Kafra in southern Lebanon. Artillery shelling was also carried out to “remove a threat” in the area of Kfarhamam, the IDF added.
Lebanese media didn’t report any civilian casualties. However, Hezbollah mourned a fighter, saying in a statement that he was killed “on the road to Jerusalem,” a phrase used to refer to those killed in the current confrontation with the IDF.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.
So far, the clashes on the border have resulted in seven civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 300 people have been killed, including 218 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 50 civilians.
