Hezbollah launched on June 5 another wave of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), targeting troops, sites and equipment.
In the morning, Hezbollah said that its fighters shelled a group of Israeli troops with artillery as they were entering the al-Malikiyah site and fired rockets at a gathering of the IDF close to the site of Birket Riche. Later in the afternoon, the group announced attacks against two other gatherings in Horsh Hanita and al-Malkiyah.
Hezbollah also announced in the afternoon that it struck a launcher of the Iron Dome air defense system in the Ramot Naftali barracks using a guided missile, launched suicide drones at an IDF deployment point in the al-Baghdadi site and fired a barrage of rockets at the al-Semaqa site.
Several blasts and fires were reported in northern Israel, mainly in the border area with Lebanon. However, Hebrew media didn’t report any casualties.
In response to recent Hezbollah attacks, the IDF announced in a morning statement that it had carried out a series of strikes against targets of the group in southern Lebanon.
The IDF said its fighter jets struck two rocket launchers of Hezbollah in the towns of Zibqin and Ayta al-Shaab overnight. It added that three buildings used by the group in the towns of Odaisseh, Blida and Markaba were also struck. There were no reports of casualties from the Lebanese site.
In a separate statement, the IDF announced that its fighter jets shot down two drones that entered Israel from Lebanon overnight and later in the day.
Hezbollah and its allies have been launching attacks from Lebanon against the IDF since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in ten civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 14 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 312 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 80 civilians.
