Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah has called on Syrian refugees in Lebanon to return to their homes in the key Syrian town of Qusayr, more than six years after its liberation.
In a speech during a memorial ceremony of senior Lebanese cleric Sheikh Hussein Kourani, the Lebanese leader said that his group, that has several positions around Qusayr, doesn’t mind the return of refugees.
“We have arranged our situation in the villages of Qusayr in a way that allows the full return of the locals to the town of Qusayr and nearby villages,” Nasrallah said on September 20.
The leader also denied all reports claiming that a “demographic change” is taking place on the Syrian-Lebanese border, saying that “Hezbollah is ready for any help to secure the return of al-Qusayr locals to their land.”
Located in southwestern Homs, Qusayr oversees a large part of the border with Lebanese and the Damascus-Homs highway. The former militants’ stronghold was captured by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah in June of 2013.
The Battle of Qusayr marked a shift in the course of the Syrian crisis in favor of the Damascus government. Hezbollah established several bases around the town to facilitate its operations inside Syria.
Nasrallah’s call for the refugees to return to the town and the surrounding areas confirm that Hezbollah is reducing its troops in Syria.
That means there are lot of empty houses in Qusayr where we Americans can move in and declare it for American soil. We never leave a country when we first have penetrated it………………..LOL.
