Hezbollah Rockets Wound Two Israeli Soldiers (Videos)

Two soldiers of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) were lightly wounded on July 5 as a result of a rocket attack by Hezbollah that targeted the settlement of Kiryat Shmona.

Hezbollah said that the main target of the attack was the headquarters of the IDF’s 769th Brigade which is located in the settlement.

The rocket attack was one of several launched by Hezbollah during the day. Two other attacks targeted the headquarters of the 91st Division in Iyelet barracks and the settlement of Margaliot. The group also targeted a house occupied by Israeli troops in the settlement of Shlomi as well as the border sites of Ramia, al-Ramtha and al-Samaqa.

The attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, Hezbollah said in separate statements.

In response to the attacks, a series of Israeli strikes hit targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, causing material losses and wounding a number of Syrian civilians.

The IDF said fighter jets struck a Hezbollah multiple rocket launcher in the town of Marwahin and an observation post in the town of Houla. It also struck an anti-aircraft system of the group in the town of Rihan which was used to attack Israeli aircraft.

A separate strike was carried out against a building in the town of Markaba, where a Hezbollah fighter was spotted entering, the IDF said.

The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza last October, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.

So far, the border clashes have resulted in ten civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 16 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 500 people have been killed, including 343 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 90 civilians.
