Hezbollah has released details of what it described as a “heroic” battle with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) between the towns of Taybeh and Qantara in southern Lebanon, which it said resulted in the destruction of ten main battle tanks.

The fierce battle broke out on the evening of March 25, and continued overnight, but preparations began a day earlier, according to a statement by the group.

In the statement, released on March 26, Hezbollah said that the IDF sent a remotely controlled bulldozer — an armored Caterpillar D9 — on March 24 to scout its positions between the Mhaysibat area in Taybeh and Qantara. The bulldozer was monitored and allowed to proceed in order to lure Israeli troops into an “ambush,” the group added.

On the evening of the next day, an Israeli armored formation advanced from Mhaysibat towards Qantara with the aim of capturing the town, according to the statement.

When the vehicles entered the ambush zone, Hezbollah fighters fired guided missiles at the center of the formation, consisting of four Merkava tanks and a D9 bulldozer, which the group said were completely destroyed.

It added that as a rear unit of four Merkava tanks attempted to deploy a heavy smoke screen to conceal its position, it was hit by guided missiles, destroying the tanks, which were observed burning.

At the same time, Hezbollah said that its artillery units targeted Israeli command positions in the Taybeh project area, as well as other positions in the nearby towns of Rab Thalathin and Oudaiseh, in addition to reinforcements sent to evacuate casualties.

According to the statement, a forward unit tried to continue advancing towards the entrance of Qantara but was met with direct missile fire.

Hezbollah said that one D9 bulldozer and two Merkava tanks were destroyed, forcing Israeli soldiers to abandon the remaining vehicles and withdraw on foot towards Mhaysibat while attempting to evacuate the wounded.

“The Mujahideen were able to thwart the enemy’s maneuver and inflicted losses on its forces, amounting to ten tanks and two D9 bulldozers,” the group concluded.

The IDF didn’t directly respond to Hezbollah claims, but acknowledged on March 26 that a soldier was killed during an exchange of fire with the group in southern Lebanon overnight.

The soldier was a member of the elite Golani Brigade’s Reconnaissance Unit. According to the military another soldier was lightly wounded in the same exchange of fire. The military also said that the Golani troops managed to kill several Hezbollah fighters during the clash.

Separately, the IDF said that an officer was moderately wounded by shrapnel as a result of fire carried out by other Israeli forces during operations in southern Lebanon overnight.

It also claimed that 15 troops were taken to a hospital with suspected “hypothermia.” One of the soldiers is listed in moderate condition, while the others are in good condition, according to the military.

The latest casualties brought the number of Israeli troops killed since Hezbollah resumed military operations after the beginning of the war on Iran more than three weeks ago to three. Two Israeli civilians were also killed by the group’s rocket fire.

The IDF is currently working to expand its ground operations in southern Lebanon, the heartland of Hezbollah. Despite the group’s fierce resistance, it has made some gains.

hezbollah has problems because it has alawites as allies. last march, the alawites fled to lebanon because they were afraid of hts. a year later, israel invaded lebanon.the cowardly traitors fled back to syria.there, hts caught some of them and imprisoned them. the only pity is that when they fled back to syria, hts didn’t simply shoot them and throw them into the sea. whoever has a traitor as an ally is alone. whoever is so stupid as to be willing to die for a traitor has died in vain.

Ivan

all the hezbollah who died for the alawites have died in vain. alawites went to lebanon for funerals when hezbollah was dying for them and their syria. then they sold this information to israel. as many alawites as hts and isis kill, they kill too few. it would be best if the wahhabis killed all the alawites and settled uyghurs and uzbeks on the coast of syria. some betrayals are impossible to forgive and move on. well, hts has placed some uyghurs and chechens to syria. too little

Slobodan

until the alawite betrayal of syria, israel did not dare to attack iran.

Itsthejews

alwaites never betrayed syria.
both iran and russia did not help assad to push back the jihadists. syria was exhausted after years of fighting. zionist cockroach erdogan had armed these jihadists with modern western equipment and drones. they broke out and the syrian army was not able to contain them. had russia or iran intervened. they would have had a chance to repel them. altough the battle for aleppo would have been restarded and it would have been a long dragged out conflict there.

if russia activated its air defenses israel could.not have bombed syria and blocked the iranian air trooptransports. the table could have been turned but russia did not help them. and this snow ball made the collapse inevitable. assad was sold out and both iran and russia are now paying the price for it. he was what kept israel and their zionist ally turkey in check

syrian army joined them because al assad did nothing to reform the army after winning the war. syria population is vastly sunni muslims. alawite are a tiny minority. for al assad it was a very risky choice. reforming the army means losing support in your own ranks and risking infiltration by the zionists. but i agree with you when you say if had russia or iran intervened. they would have had a chance to repel them
