Hezbollah announced on September 12 that it shelled the settlement of Rosh Hanikra in northern Israel for the first time in the framework of its ongoing operations to support the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon.
In a separate statement, Hezbollah said it fired multiple salvos of rockets at Rosh Hanikra as well as at the settlement of Metzova and artillery sites of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) near the settlement of Ein Yaakov, also located in northern Israel.
An attack with “squadron” of suicide drones also targeted the IDF’s Nahal Gershom base in northern Israel, according to the group.
Hezbollah also said that its fighters targeted the sites of al-Ramthat and Zabdin with rockets, shelled the Bayad Blida site with “heavy artillery” and struck the al-Malikya site along the Lebanese border with “suitable weapons.”
Hebrew media reported multiple impacts by rockets and drones in the Upper Galilee, with some causing material losses and fires. No casualties were reported, however. The IDF has no responded to Hezbollah attacks, yet.
Overnight, the IDF launched a wave of strikes against Lebanon. One of the strikes hit a motorcycle near the town of al-Bayada, killing two children. Artillery strikes on the town of Khiam wounded another civilian.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the Israeli war on Gaza, with Hezbollah and its allies launching near-daily attacks in support of the Strip.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in 26 civilian deaths in Israel and the occupied Golan as well as the deaths of at least 20 soldiers and security officers. On the Lebanese side, more than 870 people have been killed, including 436 fighters of Hezbollah and over 150 civilians.
