Hezbollah carried out another wave of attacks from its heartland in southern Lebanon on April 5, targeting sites, equipment and gatherings of the Israeli Defense Forces.
In the early morning, Hezbollah announced in two separate statements that its fighters struck an Israeli military vehicle at the entrance of the al-Matla site with a guided missile and shelled movements of Israeli troops inside the site of al-Malikiyah.
The IDF admitted that a soldier was wounded in al-Matla. It also said that seven rockets were fired from Lebanon at al-Malikiyah, but didn’t report any casualties there.
Later in the day, Hezbollah said in two other statements that its fighters targeted a building occupied by Israeli troops in the settlement of Admit and shelled a gathering of troops in the al-Manara site. In two more statements, the group announced an attack on surveillance equipment in the Zarit barracks and said that the site of Hadab Yaron was shelled by its fighters.
The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted in its statements.
The group’s Military Media also released video footage showing a recent missile attack on a house occupied by Israeli troops in al-Matla.
In addition to the attacks announced by Hezbollah, the IDF said in a brief statement that the Iron Dome air defense system intercepted a suspicious aerial target in the Western Galilee. There are no reports of injuries or damage.
In another statement, the IDF announced retaliatory strikes on southern Lebanon. It said that its fighter jets carried out strikes on a Hezbollah position in the town Zibqin as well as buildings used by the group in the towns of Yarine and Ayta al-Shaab where fighters were gathered.
A Hezbollah observation post in the town of Chebaa was also targeted earlier in the day, the IDF said, adding that another site belonging to the group in the town of Kfarhamam was hit last the prior night.
Lebanese media didn’t report any civilian casualties and Hezbollah didn’t announce any losses as a result of recent Israeli strikes.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza last October, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in eight civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 300 people have been killed, including 249 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 60 civilians.
