Hezbollah carried out another wave of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from southern Lebanon on December 9.
The group said in separate statements that its fighters shelled the military sites of al-Samaqa, al-Baghdadi, al-Hamra and Birkat Risha, and targeted gatherings of Israeli troops in the military sites of al-Matla, Ramia, Jal al-Alam and Ruwaisat al-Assi.
It also announced attacks against the headquarters of the IDF’s 91st Division in the Pranit barracks and the Naqoura naval site.
Hezbollah said that the attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance.”
The IDF responded by launching air and artillery strikes against alleged targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, including a command center. A house was completely destroyed in the town of Ayta al-Shab. However, there were no reports of civilian casualties.
Hezbollah and its allies began launching attacks against the IDF from southern Lebanon after the outbreak of the war in Gaza. Over the past week, the scale and number of attacks increased.
As of December 9, the clashes on the Lebanese front have claimed the lives of six IDF troops, 96 fighters of Hezbollah, two fighters from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, one fighter from the Lebanese Resistance Regiments, seven fighters from the Hamas Movement, six fighters from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, one Lebanese soldier. Four Israeli civilians, 13 from Lebanon and another from Syria were also killed.
