Hezbollah has redeployed hundreds of its fighters from the southern Deir Ezzor countryside to northern Hama in order to support the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) operations there, Lebanese and Syrian pro-government activists revealed on May 30.
The activists didn’t provide additional details on the matter. However, it is very likely the fighters who were deployed in northern Hama are a part of Hezbollah’s elite units, which have been operating in southern Deir Ezzor for more than two years now.
Deir Ezzor 24, a pro-opposition news blog based in the eastern governorate, confirmed that several Iranian-backed local units were redeployed in northern Hama.
“The Iranian militia withdrew about 200 elements from the town of Mayadin in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor to the northern Hama countryside,” the blog said in a report.
The deployment of these units came as Turkey is reportedly negotiating a ceasefire around Idlib with Russia. A previous ceasefire agreement failed catastrophically, when Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies carried out a counter-attack on the SAA.
If the Turkish efforts fail, Hezbollah and Iranian-backed forces could support a new SAA ground attack in northern Hama.

That’s nonsense. Hezbollah has around 25,000 soldiers and around 30,000 reservists. Their estimated losses since 2012 is over 2000 dead and over 4000 wounded, which is dangerously high for a small army. The Lebanese outside of Hezbollah’s control have no desire to join their ranks and rather see them leave their country for good. Assad and Russia also have plans to send Hezbollah and the Iranian militias home once they’re no longer needed. Hezbollah may have picked up some additional skills fighting in Syria but those have been used against poorly trained and armed militias so still wouldn’t stand a chance fighting off a determined and prolonged large scale assault by the vastly superior IDF and IAF. All Hezbollah has going for them is around 150,000 rockets which will become worthless as the IDF and IAF destroy their launchers.

Wait… Russia allowed Turkey to invade the north? I don’t recall Turkey asking permission from Russia to do that. Nor do I recall Russia intending to start WWIII with Turkey over Syria. Erdogan is trying to save face before his eventual withdrawal – he knows he doesn’t get to ‘keep’ it, and so does Russia – they were pretty clear about that. Putin threw a bone to a yapping dog. He doesn’t have small-penis syndrome (like US leaders) that prevent him from making such deals in the near term if it supports the more important long-term goal of helping Syrians clear out head-choppers. .
Anyways, Turkey’s ‘invasion’ so far consists of isolated monitoring posts on key terrain and hollow threats to ‘defend’ them. Those posts were all in head-chopper controlled territory. Turkey didn’t take any (back then) Syrian government-controlled areas, did it? I don’t see how this Turkish ‘invasion’ has hindered ops in Idlib one bit so far. Everyone kind of ignores the Turkish observation posts, and they don’t make it a point to start trouble. They ‘observe’ – it’s all for show. And maybe to monitor for the eventual flood of head-choppers back into Turkey after Syria defeats them.
Not to mention that these Turkish observation posts are excellent place to shell or bomb ‘by accident’, so as to send Erdogan, that piece of shit (no insult to shit intended) a message. You couldn’t do that by shelling or bombing Turkish troops on Turkish soil. That would be an act of war. Also kinda really hard to sell that as a mistake.

I wonder what Turkey would do without Iranian oil, apart from the fact no one’s allowed to sell it to them due to US sanctions, even if they could get it elsewhere it would way way pricer than the cheap Iranian crude.
