On June 6, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) carried out yet another attack on King Khalid Air Base in the southern Saudi province of ‘Aisr.
A spokesman for the Yemen group, Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, said that the air base was targeted with a Samad-2K suicide drone. The spokesman claimed that the attack was successful.
“This attack came within the framework of our legitimate right to respond to the continues aggression and siege on our people,” Brig. Gen. Sari said.
Per usual, the Saudi-led coalition claimed that it had intercepted the drone and foiled the Houthis’ attack on King Khalid Air Base.
Last month, the Houthis attacked King Khalid Air Base, which is located near the city of Khamis Mushait, at least six times with Qasef-2K suicide drones.
The Qasef-2K, one of the Houthis main offensive weapons, is a copy of the Iranian Ababil-2 drone, with a range of up to 150 km. The drone is armed with a high-explosive fragmentation, HE-FRAG, warhead that is equipped with a proximity fuze.
