Houthi-Saleh Alliance Launches Zelzal-2 Missile on Saudi Positions in Sana'a

On Friday, military positions of the Saudi Forces in Malah region of Sana’a governorate were pounded by missile units of the Houthi-Saleh Alliance, local media reported, citing military sources. Reportedly, the Yemeni side used the Zalzal-2 home-produced ballistic missile against Saudi troops.

“It was a precision missile strike that hit the target,” the source said without specifying damage and toll, suffered by Saudi fighters.

At the end of October, the Borkan-1 (Volcano-1) missile was launched by the alliance towards the King Abdulaziz International Airport, located 19 kilometers to the north of the western Saudi port city of Jeddah, the al-Masirah TV-channel reported. According to the Saba news agency, the target was accurately hit by the 12.5-meter-long missile, which left massive destruction at the airport. However, at the same time, Saudi media outlets reported that the missile, launched from Yemeni mountainous northwestern area of Saada, was intercepted and destroyed before it managed to inflict any damage.

Saudi military also claimed that the missile targeted the holy city of Mecca, but the Houthi-Saleh Alliance denied this fact and once again stressed that the aim of the missile was the King Abdulaziz International Airport, where the kingdom’s forces were stationed at that moment.

Meanwhile, the Fars news agency reported, citing a commander of the Yemeni popular forces, Ali al-Houthi, that Yemeni civilians are being used as a human shield by Saudi mercenaries in the province of Marib.

“After heavy defeats in Marib, Saudi mercenaries, who are part of the Saudi-led coalition forces, have stationed innocent civilians near their military bases in order to use them as human shields against attacks of the Yemeni Army and the popular committees,” Ali al-Houthi told Fars on Friday.

He also noted that on Friday, the Houthi-Saleh Alliance has started operations in order to rescue civilians, adding that during fierce clashes, 21 Saudi soldiers were killed and tens others were wounded, while eight Yemeni fighters lost their lives in the attacks.
