My friend lives in Israel and was in Tzahal in last Lebanon war. You don’t understand that Hezbollah is not Palestinians. It is a very good equipped and trained force. And now they have couple of years real combat experience as army force, not as “rebels”. Also they now have man pads and anti tank guided missiles.
They can have all of those sure no problem, it still won’t change the outcome of the war if WE DECIDE to use all of our firepower against them and Lebanon. Just check the last war data and see the number of casualties on both sides, the ratio is 1:20 and that was when we still tried not to destroy Lebanon completely, next war would be much different and less “sterile”. I also read here some guys think they destroyed us dozens or hundreds of tanks, lol that really made me laugh. 52 Merkava MBT’s were damaged (45 of them by different kinds of ATGM), missiles penetrated 22 tanks, but only 5 tanks were fully destroyed beyond repair.
Well, if you say you’re in Tzahal, have to know that “damaged” tank can’t fight and need to be send to reparations. Try to speak with guys who has real combat experience so they could explain you what does it means to remain in the middle of the fight without tank firepower.
A damaged tank was in most cases due to RPG fire, which didn’t really affect the tank or the tank crew abilities. Merkava is one of the most defended tanks in the world, you don’t destroy it that easily. The repairs can also be done in the field, depends on how serious the hit is. Like I wrote, only 5 tanks were fully destroyed, I give them that. I’m not saying we didn’t have casualties or equipment loss, but not that much like Hezbollah claims. Most of the times you would see videos from their side, because the IDF doesn’t publish every strike…but we all know that in the bottom line they can’t stop us from advancing.
