The Houthis (Ansar Allah) announced late on November 1 that they had launched another drone attack from Yemen against Israel in support of the Gaza Strip.
“The Yemeni armed forces launched a large batch of drones during the past hours at several targets… in occupied Palestine, and they reached their goals,” a statement released by the Iranian-backed group said.
“The Yemeni armed forces will continue to carry out their military operations in support” of the Palestinian people, the statement adds.
Hezam al-Asad, a member of the Houthis’ political bureau, writes on X in Hebrew and Arabic: “Beyond Eilat,” referring to Israel’s most southern Red Sea port city.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) did not immediately respond or confirm any such attack. There were no air raid sirens in Eilat right before or after the Houthis’ announcement.
The Houthis announced a large-scale strike against Israel on October 31 and claimed responsibility for two previous attacks on October 19 and 27. On November 1, the group released footage showing the launch of dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles as well as suicide drones.
In preparation for more attacks from Yemen, the IDF bolstered its defenses in the Red Sea with at least two Sa’ar 5-class corvettes.
The Houthis control much of Yemen, including a long strip of the Red Sea coast and the capital Sanaa, and maintain a large arsenal of missiles and drones. Israeli officials are reportedly considering a response. However, no military action will likely deter the battle-hardened group, who could escalate its attacks.
