Houthis Announce Attack On Two Ships Sailing To Israel In Red Sea

On December 15, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen announced that they had targeted two ships in the Red Sea which were heading to Israel.

Brigade General Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Houthi, said in a statement that the ships MSC Alanya and MSC Palatium III, both raising the flag of Liberia, were targeted with anti-ship missiles.

The Houthis, who control much of Yemen’s Red Sea coast, are a part of the so-called Axis of Resistance that is backed by Iran and opposes Israel. The group has fired several missiles and drones at the southernmost Israeli city of Eilat since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Palestinian Gaza Strip. It has also assaulted a number of Israeli-owned ships and announced a blockade on all ships heading to Israel.

“The Yemeni armed forces confirm they will continue to prevent all ships heading to Israeli ports from navigating [in the Red Sea] until they bring in the food and medicine that our steadfast brothers in the Gaza Strip need,” Brig. Gen. Saree, said.

United States officials said earlier that two ships were attacked in the Red Sea. However, they identified one of them as the Liberian-flagged Al Jasrah, which is owned by the German-based Hapag-Lloyd. The shipping company maintains offices in Israel.

Meanwhile, British maritime security firm Ambrey confirmed that the MSC Palatium III was attacked, but said that the MSC Alanya was only warned by the Houthis. MSC, which is based in Switzerland and ships to Israeli ports, later denied that the MSC Alanya came under attack.

The arrival of commercial ships to the Israeli southern port of Eilat has almost completely stopped as a result of the Houthis recent attacks. Ships heading to Israel from Asia have been forced to take a route that circles Africa, making the journey three weeks longer and more expensive.

According to a recent report by Axios, the U.S. has warned the Houthis from continuing their attacks and is preparing to announce a special upgraded multinational task force in the Red Sea.

the houthis are among the few who stand up to “the axis of evil” for the palestinian children and others who have done no wrong.

Psionists slaves of America

the u.s. navy is a fracking joke. they can’t even stop the barefoot goatherding houthis from in effect blockading their israeli master’s red sea port. they’ll be sitting ducks in the persian gulf if the gaza war suddenly escalates into a regional war with iran.
