The Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen announced on November 16 that they had carried out a drone attack against a “vital target” in the southernmost Israeli city of Eilat in support of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
In a statement, Houthi military spokesman Brigade General Yahya Sarea said that the attack “successfully achieved its goals,” without elaborating.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces salute the steadfastness of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples in the face of the Israeli aggression and stress that they will continue to carry out military operations against the Israeli enemy and continue to impose a naval blockade within the previously announced naval operations area,” the spokesman continued.
“These operations will not stop until the aggression and the blockade on the Gaza Strip, as well as the aggression on Lebanon are over,” he added.
Several hours before the Houthi announcement, warning sirens sounded in Eilat. The Israeli Defense Forces said that the sirens were off by a drone launched “from the east.”. The drone crashed before crossing into Israeli territory, according to the military. No losses were reported.
It is unclear however if the drone was one of those launched by the Houthis from Yemen, or a part of an attack on Eilat that was announced by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq on the same day.
Since November, the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have attacked more than 200 vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the United States and the United Kingdom in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
The group also launched dozens of drones and missiles at Israel and shot down at least 12 American-made combat drones over Yemen and nearby waters.
The U.S. and the UK have carried out hundreds of strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since January. Israel also launched two waves of strikes against civilian infrastructure in al-Hodeidah in July and September. However, the aerial campaign failed to deter the Houthis or degrade their capabilities.

my hope for the coming new year? that the houthis will build, deploy and strike israel with many more hypersonic missiles. i hope israel is fully on their knees before their savior, trump, enters the picture. that might prevent a total war. they aren’t far from that now. the rats are fleeing the sinking ship for a reason.
chumpo will do f… all apart from all his usual loudmouth act.
from the river to the sea! yep the rats are circling the drain and will soon be gone, a bleak memory of an evil force in an otherwise friendly world! won’t be much missed. in fact not missed at all!
páči sa mi ako púšťajú žilou okupantom z usa. dvanásť dronov je celkom slušný úspech. ešte keby tak k tomu mohli pripočítať nejakú stratu dákej us lode. to by ešte len vyvolalo nadšenie vo svete. smrť okupantom!!! mor ho!!! svetu mier!!!
