Houthis Artillery & Missile Force Pound Saudi Military Camps In Northern Yemen (Video)

On February 19, Houthi fighters launched a Zilzal-1 rocket at a military camp of the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies in the area of al-Salan in the northern Yemeni province of al-Jawf.

The Houthis usually use the codename “Zilzal-1” to describe a variety of locally-made improvised rocket-assisted munitions (IRAMs), which are usually based on Grad 122mm rockets. These IRAMs have a very close range but a heavy warhead.

Following the rocket attack, the Houthi artillery pounded another military camp of the coalition in the area of Tabat al-Juruf in al-Jawaf. A video released by the Yemeni group’s media wing shows both attacks.

These attacks are a part of the Houthis’ strategy to deter the Saudi-led coalition by infecting heavy losses on its ranks with minimum cost. This strategy has limited the coalition ability to operate in several areas. However, it also led to an increase in the coalition’s aerial operations.
