The Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen announced on October 18 that they had attacked a merchant vessel in the Arabian Sea in response to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
The vessel, Megalopolis, was attacked with a number of drones, Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sarea said in a statement, adding that “the operation successfully achieved its objectives.”
The spokesman noted that the vessel was targeted for violating the group’s ban on entering the ports of “occupied Palestine”.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces salute the Mujahideen in Gaza and Lebanon and affirm that the martyrdom of the great leader Yahya Sinwar will only boost the resistance,” Brig. Gen. Sarea said, mourning the leader of the Hamas Movement who was killed clashing with Israeli troops in southern Gaza two days earlier.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces, as they inaugurate their second year of support in the battle of the promised conquest and holy jihad, affirm their continuation in imposing a naval blockade on the Israeli enemy … as well as their continuation in targeting the Israeli enemy with missiles and drones … these operations will not stop until the aggression and the blockade on the Gaza Strip, as well as the aggression on Lebanon are over,” he added.
Megalopolis, a Malta-flagged container ship, is currently en route to Oman’s Salalah port, according to maritime traffic data. Maritime agencies didn’t report any incidents involving the vessel.
The attack came just a day after the United States launched an unprecedented wave of strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, employing even B-2 Spirit long-range stealth bombers. The strikes hit the capital, Sanaa, and the northern province of Saada.
On October 18, two more “American-British” strikes hit Yemen, according to the Al-Masirah TV, which is run by the Houthis. The strikes targeted the Houthi-controlled district of Ras Issa in the western province of al-Hodeidah. No casualties were reported.
Since November, the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have attacked dozens of vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the U.S. and the United Kingdom in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The group also launched dozens of drones and missiles at Israel and shot down at least eleven American-made combat drones over Yemen and nearby waters.
The U.S. and the UK have carried out hundreds of strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since January. Israel also launched two waves of strikes against civilian infrastructure in al-Hodeidah in July and September. However, the aerial campaign failed to deter the Houthis or degrade their capabilities.

100% respect/admiration for the tenacity/bravery of ansar allah and the yemeni people.
although one of the world’s poorest countries yemen stands up for its brothers and sisters in occupied palestine – despite the colonial stealth bombing scum that support the zio-occupation.
saudi + gcc hang your us-*ss-licking heads.
b2 or not b2? that is the question. houthis back in action again.
b2 or no b2. the resistance will never die.
the houthis can go on squeezing shlomo’s nuts forever, unless he cleans up his act. same goes for all the pro genocide regimes. the houthis fought shady wahabia and its uk/ us accomplices for a decade until they’d had enough. these are real mean mofas, not cringing whores like sissy, fake king abdullah and abbas. i knew some soldiers who fought against them in the 60s when the place was a british colony. they said the houthis were the last people ……
on earth you’d want to go up against. everyone had guns and would no sooner go out without their gun than they would without their trousers. they couldn’t give a s**t about uncle sugar’s fancy weapons. a couple of months ago they ambushed a raiding party in yemen and killed the lot of them, 70 shlomos and amerikunts.
