Brigadier General Yahya Sari, spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces
The Houthis imposed control of the entire district of al-Husha in the central Yemeni province of Dhale after a large-scale operation that lasted for 48 hours only, a spokesman for the Yemeni rebel group Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari announced on April 24.
“The large-scale offensive operation was carried out by specialized units of the army and the popular committees [official terms for the Houthis’ military wing] … They advanced towards the enemy’s positions from three directions,” Brig. Gen. Sari said in an official statement.
In the course of the operation, Houthi fighters captured 49 military positions of the Saudi-led coalition and its local proxies in al-Husha. The district, which lays on 360km2, is located on the administrative border with the province of Ta’izz and only 20km away from the province of Lahij.
Brig. Gen. Sari said that dozens of fighters of the Saudi-led coalition were killed during the clashes in al-Husha. He also claimed that Houthi fighter captured loads of weapons and ammunition.
By capturing al-Husha, the Houthis are now one step closer of reaching the southern province of Aden, the stronghold of the Saudi-led coalition.
