Saudi and United Arab Emirates (UAE)-backed forces sustained more than 1,500 casualties during their recent large-scale operation in the Yemeni province of Shabwah, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) revealed on January 12.
The operation, dubbed Southern Storm, began on January 1. Within ten days, the UAE-backed Giant Brigades supported by the pro-Saudi wing of the Yemen Armed Forces expelled the Houthis from the district centers of Usaylan, Bayhan and Ain.
Saudi and UAE-backed forces paid a hefty price for this success. According to a statement by Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Houthis, 515 personnel of the Giant Brigades and their allies were killed, 850 were wounded and 200 others are still missing.
Two senior commander of the Giant Brigades were killed during the operation, Col. Samih Jarada, commander of the Giants’ 2nd Brigade, and Col. Magdy Radfani, commander of the Giants 3rd Brigade.
Houthi fighters also destroyed or damaged 102 tracked and wheeled military vehicles, including advanced heavy howitzers.
Moreover, two Chinese-made CAIG Wing Loong II combat drones of the UAE Air Force were shot down by the Houthis. The first one was shot down January 5 over Usaylan, while the second was shot down on January 11 over Ain.
“The mercenaries and ISIS militants of the UAE received dozens of missile strikes that targeted their gatherings and left large numbers of dead and wounded in their ranks,” Brig. Gen. Sari said in his brief statement.
Operation Southern Storm is still ongoing. The Giant Brigades and their allies entered the district of Harib in the central province of Ma’rib on January 11.
Saudi and UAE-backed forces will likely face more resistance in Ma’rib, where the Houthis’ elite combat units have been on the offense for the nearly a year now. All previous attempts to push Houthi fighters out from the province failed miserably.
I’d fucking hope so. The less dune coons in this world, the better.
Especially the subhuman saudi and emirati varieties that are in bed with kikes.
I tend to believe the Houthis because their two biggest victories were ambushes of this type.
I cannot recall the specific dates but I recall the general locations. 1. They crushed a UAE led offensive to Port Hudayah. They did not roll them back but they stopped them in their tracks. 3. In the north they had an even bigger success against a Saudi led offensive.
The Houthis are most dangerous when you advance against them and you expose your formations.
Another reason why saudis and their mutt cronies fail so badly is because they have spines like Jell-O.
Literally, if there is an arab military that is badly trained and overly armed, it is that kingdom’s forces. I doubt there are even enough skilled troops there to form anything larger than a platoon.
