The Houthis carried out two successful military operations against the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies in the southern Saudi province of Najran on June 5.
In the first operation, the Houthis destroyed two LAV II Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), a LAV-25 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) and a bulldozer of the Saudi National Guard west of the al- Sudais mount in southern Najran.
The second operation targeted Saudi-led coalition troops near the area of al-Tal’a. Houthi fighters managed to capture key positions after killing several Saudi-backed Yemeni fighters.
In the last few months, the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies suffered from massive loses as a result of the Houthis cross-border attacks. The coalition made several attempts to secure the Kingdom’s southern border. However, they all failed.

The Saudis are facing problems recruiting African mercenaries as unrest in Sudan and war in Libya has taken the Chadians out of the market. Most of dying in Yemen is done by illiterate madrassa Wahhabis from Saudi Bedouin tribes now. That is the reason the whole Saudi invasion of Yemen has collapsed. In sheer cowardly frustration, the Saudis bomb Yemeni civilians, which in turn creates more Ansarallah recruitment as Yemeni culture is based on revenge. Yemen has a very young population and Saudi atrocities are driving even many Sunni tribes into alliance with Ansarallah and that is obvious by the speed of Ansarallah advance towards the south and Aden.

I also think recruiting mercenaries is a problem due to Coalition incompetence makes joining up practically a death sentence and the dead cannot cash pay checks.
I don’t know about revenge culture, but I remember a prayer from a Yemeni fighter that rings in my head to this day. Not exact translation, but roughly what he said:
“May God forbid us from residing in it (Yemen) if we cannot stop them (Saudi coalition) from residing in it. And may God forbid us from living if we allow them to leave it alive”

Yemen is famous for its tribes. Like most close knit mountain communities, like Afghanistan and the Caucasus,the Zaidi Shia religious tribes are powerful political actors in Yemen and central to Yemeni culture and society. The old tribal system had no affiliation with any sect, and there was no consensus on the nature of the relationship between Yemeni tribes and the Yemeni state, the Houthi movement changed that equation, thanks to Saudi arrogance and atrocities against the Zaidi Shia, who by early 2000’s had become the majority, similar to the situation in Lebanon. As a result, there is a broad consensus that tribes are important in understanding Yemeni politics and society and family. The British imperialists used the tribal system in the broader Arab world to divide and rule, mostly preferring to install puppet Wahabbi tribals like the al-Saud, al-Khalifa, Al-Sabah, Al-Thani etc in the Persian Gulf vassal states. In Yemen they favored the urban Sunnis centered around Aden, at the expense of the majority Shia, just like Lebanon where the French imperialists supported the Sunnis and Maronites against the once poorer rural Shia of the south. The Zionists pursued the same suicidal policies, ultimately resulting in the creation of the Shia movements like Amal and its successor the legendary Hezbollah. After the Iranian revolution, there has been a general Shia unity and awakening, and Yemen was no different as its demographics also changed since the 1960’s rebellion. The Ansarollah and Yemenis are now locally producing the Iranian Dehalievah tandem warhead Kornet which has a laser riding range of almost 8 kms and the Ansarollah as the videos show are operating on Hezbollah style small ATGM hunter killer teams, almost impossible to detect, let alone stop. The Yemenis also have a great advantage of mastery of the local terrain which is ideal for asymmetrical war. Maybe it’s true. But what does locally produce mean? All the electronics have to be imported anyway, probably also the explosives. The Saudis are complete idiots and have a bigger defence budget than India which has 1.4 BILLION people. Most of Saudi defence budget is ripped off by western masters. The Saudis buy western weapons at inflated prices and then have to pay billions for expensive service contracts as they can not even change engine oil on their own. As far as ATGM assembly is concerned it is not a very difficult process and Yemenis have had extensive experience in maintaining and modifying Soviet/Russian military equipment. Most of the mechanics in Saudi Arabia were Yemenis and Egyptians anyway. Yemen’s coastline and border with Oman is impossible to seal off. The recent surge in ATGM use by Ansarallah attests to their easily availability.
