Houthis Destroy Saudi-led Coalition Boat Off Coast Of Midi

Illustrative image

On October 10, the Yemeni Navy [loyal to the Houthis] announced that it had destroyed a boat of the Saudi-led coalition off the coast of the district of Middi in the northwestern province of Hajjah. A source in the Yemeni Navy told the al-Masirah TV that all coalition personnel who were aboard the boat were killed in the attack.

The Yemeni Navy didn’t reveal the weapon which had been used to destroy the Saudi-led coalition boat. However, experts believe that it was a Kornet anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) or a similar light-weight guided weapon. Iran is known for supplying the Houthis and their allies with such weapon systems.

Last month, the Yemeni Navy used two remotely controlled water-borne improvised explosive devices (WBIEDs) to target the southwestern Saudi port of Jizan. However, the Royal Saudi Navy detected and destroyed the WBIEDs before reaching their target.

These attacks are likely an attempt by the Houthis to deter the Saudi-led coalition. In the last few months, Saudi-led warships made several attempts to land troops on the western Yemeni coast and even shelled key positions of the Houthis there.

Was the warship made out of Plywood? I don’t see how an anti-tank weapon would have the power needed to destroy a ship. The Houthis and allies must be using something else.

The article does state it was a boat. The picture of a ship maybe misleading, it is a file photo.

Fair enough but it would have to be a pretty small one :-) I recall reading about how ATGM’s were used against tankers but were found to be very ineffective. In any case, I hope the Houthis/allies developed something effective. I wish them well.

I wish there were videos of these strikes.

VERY NICE “HOUTHIS”!!!! :)))

It is “highly likely” that those who sold the Boat to Saudis sell missiles to Yemenis. Business will be the winner.
