Several Sudanese soldiers were killed and injured on August 27 in the southern Saudi province of Jizan in a new cross-border attack by the Houthis. The Yemeni group’s media wing released a short video of the raid, which targeted several positions of the Saudi-led coalition east of the al-Dud mountain in southern Jizan.

In the course of the attack the Houthis captured loads of ammunition and several weapons, including heavy machine guns, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and a mortar.

The Houthis’ new raid is another blow to Sudanese forces in Yemen. Earlier this month, the Yemeni group claimed that 14 Sudanese service members were killed and 9 others were injured in a rocket attack on their camp in Jizan

Since the outbreak of the war in 2015, more than 1,200 Sudanese soldiers and officers have been killed in Yemen by the Houthis. Despite the heavy losses and the April 11 Sudanese coup d’état, Khartoum is yet to leave the Saudi-led coalition.
