On February 8, the Houthis launched a large-scale attack on positions of the Saudi-led coalition’s forces in the northern province of al-Jawf and managed to capture several positions in the al-Yatimah area of the Khabb wa al-Sha’af district, according to the Houthis media wing.
The Yemeni al-Masirah TV reported that Houthi fighters killed dozens of Yemeni fighters loyal to Saudi-backed Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi and captured 14 others in their advance. Moreover, the Houthis destroyed 8 armored vehicles of the Saudi-led coalition, according to the media outlet.
From its side, pro-Hadi forces backed by the Saudi-led collation repelled a Houthi attack on their positions in the Bart al-Anan district of the al-Jawf province, according to the UAE-based al-Arabiya TV. Pro-Hadi fighters killed and injured several fighters of the Houthis.
Al-Arabiya also reported that warplanes of the Saudi-led coalition had eliminated three Houthi units and destroyed an unspecified anti-aircraft system in the province of al-Jawf.
Local Yemeni sources confirmed that the Saudi-led coalition had conducted over 12 airstrikes supporting pro-Hadi forces in al-Jawf. However, the sources revealed that at least 7 civilians were killed in the airstrikes.
