On January 14, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen launched two new attacks against Israel, including drone attacks on Tel Aviv and a missile strike on Eilat.
In a statement, Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that the Yemeni armed forces targeted Tel Aviv with multiple suicide drones. Additionally, the missile force of the Yemeni army attacked the Israeli power plant in the Umm al-Rashrash area (Eilat) in southern Palestine with a cruise missile.
According to the spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, both operations successfully achieved their objectives.
The attack comes as the Yemeni army has carried out several attacks on Israel in recent days.
On January 12, the Yemeni army targeted vital locations in Tel Aviv using four suicide drones. The following day, on January 13, they launched a Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile at a significant target in the city. Additionally, early on January 14, another attack was carried out against the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of War in Tel Aviv, again using a Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile.
The Israeli army asserts that every one of these missiles was successfully intercepted.
According to the IDF, the Houthis have launched some 40 ballistic missiles at Israel since the outbreak of the war in the Strip on October 7 of 2023. The group also targeted dozens of Israel-linked merchant vessels, and clashed with the United States Navy near Yemen’s waters and shot down over a dozen American combat drones.
The U.S., United Kingdom and Israel have launched hundreds of strikes against the Houthis over the past year, with the IDF targeting mainly civilian infrastructure in areas controlled by the group in Yemen.
