On September 24, the Saudi-led coalition announced that it had intercepted and shot down five suicide drones and a ballistic missile which were launched from Yemen, allegedly by the Houthis (Ansar Allah), over Saudi Arabia’s southern region.
The coalition claimed that the five drones were on their way to attack city of Khamis Mushait in the southern province of ‘Asir, while the ballistic missile was heading towards the provincial capital of Jizan.
“The [Houthi] militia’s aggressive attempts to attack civilians and civilian objects have been foiled,” the coalition said in a statement shared by the Saudi Press Agency.
The Houthis are yet to claim responsibility for the attack. Usually, the Yemeni group announce such large-scale attacks on Saudi Arabia within 24 hours.
The attack comes as Saudi Arabia struggles to secure a replacement for US missile defense systems which were recently pulled out from the Kingdom.
The Houthis have been taking advantage of Saudi Arabia’s currently crisis. On September 4, the group launched six missiles and ten drones at the Kingdom. A second large-scale attack with a missile and four drones targeted the Kingdom on September 17.
Such large-scale attacks on Saudi Arabia are meant to distract and deplete the Saudi-led coalition, who continues to lose ground in Yemen.
“Saudi-led coalition announced”? What fool would believe them? Good progress by the Houthi’s.
Drone on! Drones are the way the go, Houthi’s!
