Houthis Repel Large Attack By Saudi-led Coalition, Destroy Several Vehicles In Northwestern Yemen (Video)

Support SouthFront

On April 1, Houthi fighters repelled a large scale attack by the Saudi-led coalition on their positions in the al-Tawil area of the Midi district in the northwestern province of Hajjah, according to the Houthis’ media wing. The source said that many armored vehicles and battle tanks of the Saudi Army had participated in the failed attack.

The Houthis killed several Saudi soldiers and destroyed at least four M113 Armored Personnel Carrier (APCs) of the Saudi military. Some weapons and military equipment were also captured by Houthi fighters.

The Midi district is an important area in northern Yemen because it is linked with the Saudi southern province of Jizan. From the district, Houthi fighters launch cross border attacks on Saudi border posts in southern Jizan on a regular basis. On March 31 only, the Houthis killed five Saudi soldiers in two IEDs attack in Jizan.

Since the outbreak of the Yemeni war in 2015, the Houthis have successfully maintained all the key positions in the Midi district and have repelled dozens of attacks by the Saudi-led coalition.

These Saudi rats really do not know how to fight do they? I don’t understand why they can’t just spend money building lavish houses, desalination plants, vacations, and snorting cocaine.

Why interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and why spend billions on spreading Wahhabism throughout the world?

Sinbad2

Because Saudi oil is running out, and Yemen has large reserves.

All wars are about money.

Nigel Maund

Geologically correct! Hence the KSA is desperate to gain control of Yemen to shore up its future economy.

Don Machiavelli

Yemen has no resources and only thing which makes them important on geopolitical scale is obvious since opera ”Aida”. Same goes with Somalia. Problem is that there was puppet government in Yemen, now there is not, hence the destruction – to put western whore in power.

Faith Biate Fhg

what is opera “Aida”?

Nigel Maund

You forgot orgies, white prostitutes, white slavery, exploiting Asian housemaids and paedophilia…….,…Oh and ostentatious expendiiture on massive villas / palaces, gold and jewellery, fast cars, expensive dates, eating and smoking. No wonder their own women want to find a decent foreigner and get out of the KSA.

hamster

Well other than pedophilia, slavery and exploitation, all of those things your mentioned would be fine if they didn’t simultaneously interfere in other countries affairs or export fanatical ideologies.

Sakaramanga

and yet US is allies with KSA but could not tolerate much more democratic and milder regimes of Saddam/Qaddafi/Assad.

hamster

Exactly. Saddam/Qaddafi/Assad were far more progressive and tolerant than the KSA or the ideology that it has exported. Iran too was a relatively progressive government prior to the 1953 coup orchestrated by the CIA.

Nigel Maund

I overlooked every Friday’s head and hands chopping at the Grand Mosque. The massive hypocrisy and gross intolerance apparent in all repressive religions such as Medieval Catholicism and Mohammedism (Muslims).

Alpha&Omega

Sending APCs against a defence line just outside its own territory without l-o-s fire from tanks and so on from the boarder itself and heavy support of artillery and air assets makes no sense. The Saudi military leadership must be one of, if not the, most incompetent in the world.

David Pryce

+the US must love this more sales

Nigel Maund

What an interesting victory by the Houthi’s. The expensive modern US equipment was readilyl destroyed by Houthi light infantry at nominal cost. This means that the Saudi’s are, as everyone knows, hopeless soldiers and have no idea how to integrate mechanised infantry and armor. If the Houthi’s had the kit the US CIA has given to ISIS the Saudi’s would be in very serious trouble indeed. Their losses of expensive hardware would be large. If the Houth’s get MANPAD’s or TOW missiles the KSA forces will be reeling.

Just cause is major factor in providing good morale and reason to fight. Saudis do not have that. Israelis do not have that. Houtis and Hezbollah do. See how Youtube removes every speech by Hasan Nasrallah. And they do it rapidly. Someone is truly scared of truth, whoever listen to Nasrallah he knows that he is great man and patriot of his country.

Nigel Maund

Good commentary Don! Thanks

These Houthis sure can fight well despite almost all of them having high-pitched voices. Why do they all talk like that? Local dialect?

Amine Mansouri

it’s khaat effect, they chew it all day

Amine Mansouri

OOOOMG! I could lead those saudis better than theur f*cking commanders. are u serious? you send infantry & apc’s without air support? saudis should stop buying expensive toys from USA, and try using upgraded soviet-era vehicles like T-72, MI-24, BMP-2, BTR80/90, mig-29, which cost a lot less and can do the same or better than the US equipment

Amine Mansouri

i feel very sorry for those shiny weapons

Hell Sing

Attacks like this one will continue to happen more frequently giving the Yemens more certain in their fight adwinst the Saudis.
