On March 18, fighters loyal to Saudi-backed Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi launched a new attack against the Houthis in al-Dahr Mount of the Nati district in the central province of al-Bayda, according to Yemeni sources.
The UAE-based al-Arabiya TV reported that pro-Hadi forces supported by the Saudi-led coalition had captured several positions in al-Dahr Mount. Pro-Hadi fighters reportedly killed 12 Houthi fighters there.
Hours later, the Houthis media wing denied al-Arabiya’s claims and released a video showing Houthi members repelling the attack on al-Dahr Mount. Houthi fighters killed and injured several pro-Hadi fighters and destroyed two vehicles of the Saudi-led coalition with ATGMs, according to the report.
Saudi-led coalition warplanes conducted a series of airstrikes on positions of the Houthis in al-Dahr Mount during the failed attack, according to the Yemeni al-Masirah TV.
The Saudi-led coalition claimed on February 28 that its forces had imposed full control over the Nati district including al-Dahr Mount. However, the recent developments proved that these claims had been nothing more than a propaganda move.
The Houthi’s need MANPAD equivalents. That would level up the playing field a bit!

Carpet bombing the terrorist capitals of Riyadh, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Dubai into dust would level up the playing field even more. The flip-flop army could take it from there.
PW – that’s a little drastic don;t you think? Besides who would do it? The loss of a few expensive aircraft from the KSAAF would send a clear message and alter the ground dynamic somewhat.
Drastic? Eh… depends who you ask. I’m not opposed to your MANPADS idea, though. The US (via KSA/UAE stocks) covertly flooded rebel-held Aleppo with MANPADS in desperation months before the SAA liberated it. I’m sure the US collected and accounted for every last one of them from the fleeing head-choppers. It would be wonderful Karma indeed if KSAAF F-15s were downed over Yemen by KSA MANPADS.
Non-existent coordination, internal strife, and differing war aims on both sides have so far prevented any decisive conclusion to this war. The introduction of a new weapon won’t make much difference.
For a war there’s an a lot of camera work going on. With this and Syria there’s always some sort of video to report everything with, which seems like a wasteful use of manpower.
The thing that I don’t get is: The saudis are killing them, but yet its “death to america, israel, etc”…
It boggles the mind that saudi arabia gets a free pass…
