On September 24, the Houthis repelled a limited attack of the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies near the district center of al-Durayhimi on the western coast of Yemen. According to al-Masirah TV, coalition troops were planning to capture few positions northeast of the district center.
During the clashes around al-Durayhimi, Houthi fighters destroyed an armored vehicle of the Saudi-led coalition with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) and damaged another one with a rocket-propelled grenade. Several Saudi-backed Yemeni fighters were also killed and injured.
The limited attack was likely a reconnaissance by fire, which indicates that the Saudi-led coalition maybe planning to launch another attack on the al-Durayhimi soon. The coalition even deployed additional troops and heavy weapons at its positions south of the district center two days ago.
Earlier this month, the Saudi-led coalition launched a large-scale attack on the Houthis’ positions in al-Durayhimi and in the area of “Kilo 16” north of it. However, the Houthis repelled the attack killing dozens of coalition personnel and destroying many armored vehicles.
