The Houthis (Ansar Allah) announced on August 7 that they had launched a Badir-F tactical ballistic missile at a military camp of the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies in the area of Rjalla’ in the Kingdom’s southern province of Najran.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Yemeni group, said that dozens of coalition personnel were killed or injured in the missile strike.

“This strike was carried out after a careful intelligence operation, in a time when the enemy was preparing to advance towards the [Yemeni] army and the popular committees’ [formal name for the Houthis’ military wing] positions on the [Saudi-Yemeni] border,” the spokesman revealed.

The Badir-F, which has a range of 160km, is armed with a high-explosive fragmentation [HE-FRAG] warhead equipped with a laser proximity fuze. On August 3, a missile of this type struck a camp of Saudi forces in Najran.

The Saudi-led coalition has not commented on the Houthis’ claims so far. In most cases, this means that the missile strike was successful.
