The Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen announced on October 2 that they had launched cruise missiles at Israel in support of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
Three Quds-5 cruise missiles were launched at military positions “in the depth of the Zionist entity in occupied Palestine,” Houthi military spokesman Brigade General Yahya Sarea said in a statement, alleging that the missiles “managed to reach their targets successfully.”
The attack came less than a day after Iran launched a large-scale attack against Israel with some 200 ballistic missiles, targeting several key intelligence and military bases across the country and sending around ten million people into bomb shelters.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces bless the second Iranian operation of the True Promise against the Israeli enemy and confirm their readiness to participate in any joint military operations against the Israeli enemy in victory for the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and in response to any Israeli aggression targeting the support fronts,” Brig. Gen. Sarea said.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that the continued American and British support for the Israeli enemy puts American and British interests in the region under fire and that they will not hesitate, with the help of God Almighty, to expand their military operations against the Israeli enemy and those behind it until the aggression stops and the siege on Gaza is lifted, as well as the aggression on Lebanon stops,” he added.
Multiple interceptions were reported over Israel on October 1 and 2. However, it is still unclear if any of them was linked to the Houthis attack.
Since November, the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have attacked dozens of vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the United States and the United Kingdom in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea in response to the Israeli war on Gaza.
The group also launched dozens of drones and missiles at Israel and shot down at least eleven American-made combat drones over Yemen and nearby waters.
The U.S. and the UK have carried out hundreds of strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since January. Israel also launched two waves of strikes against civilian infrastructure in the western Yemeni province of al-Hodeidah in July and September.
Despite killing nearly 60 people in Yemen, the U.S.-led aerial campaign failed to deter the Houthis or degrade their military capabilities.

israeli iron dome was totally useless against iranian missiles. next time, heavier payloads may be used. iran has exposed israeli weakness. it can overwhelm and penetrate zionist air defenses with ease
really, the biggest message here is: israel’s biggest regional deterrent was it’s nuclear weapons and it is no longer a deterrent. and the myth of legend of its air defenses which were mostly based on skewed and false weapons system efficiency /performance data cannot protect them from a nuclear counterattack.
now that the air defense capability has been exposed. and iran is suspected of already having “the bomb” … it changes the whole regional dynamic. again, the neocons and the israeli accelerated the outcome they most dreaded — again.
